Measure T in MaderaMeasure T provides approximately 30% of all the road maintenance and repair funds used for our local streets and roads. Since it's inception, it's been a critical part of numerous important projects:
Ellis Overcrossing The Ellis overcrossing was constructed to connect residents on the North side of Madera to areas West of Highway 99, such as commercial centers, the Madera Municipal Airport, and the Madera Municipal Golf Course. Prior to construction, residents were forced to either travel South to Cleveland or north to Avenue 17. Fourth Street Widening Fourth Street was widened and improved from Pine Street to Lake Street to facilitate efficient traversal along this east/west corridor to various locations within Downtown Madera, such as City Hall, the Madera County Administrative Building, and the John Wells Youth Center. Prior to construction the ability to easily travel via Fourth Street was hampered by congestion caused by insufficient travel lanes in either direction and bottlenecks at the SR99 Bridge overcrossing and ramps. Fresno River Trail Undercrossing As part of the larger Vernon McCullough Fresno Trail, the undercrossings at Gateway Drive and the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge linked the Eastern and Western segments of the trail together, extending an already lengthy method of pedestrian and bicycle travel. A canopy was constructed at the site of the undercrossing to provide protection to pedestrians and bicyclists from potential debris from the railroad and roadway above. Olive Avenue Widening Gateway Drive to Knox Street Phase 1 – property acquisition and demolition complete Phase 2 – Utility Undergrounding complete Phase 3 - Intersection and Roadway Improvements at Olive Ave and Know Street adjacent to the future James Taubert Park to be constructed in 2024. Olive Avenue serves as a highly trafficked route for residents to get to locations like schools, parks, and several Madera County facilities. The current configuration has a single lane of travel in either direction or can frequently experience congestion due to the amount of traffic along this route. This project will construct full arterial street features including bike lanes and two vehicle lanes of travel in either direction, a center median, and construct missing segments of sidewalk. Project includes a new and improved railroad crossing signal at UPRR just east of Gateway Drive. |
